Why Do Women Cheat? Essay
“FORTY PERCENT of women cheat” (Francis, 2007, P. 58).
That’s a very bold and general statement to be said about women. Cheating in today’s modern time as common as stealing. These days more and more women are found to be guilty of cheating. Infidelity in relationships is increasing day by day.
Every day we read on newspapers about several crimes which have resulted from such relationships. With increasing live in relationships and extra martial affairs Marriages in our society today do not seem to mean nearly as much as they used to in the past.According to Frances Cohen Praver (2007), women are more afraid of being lonely and allowing their inner emotions affect them more over anything else. What may be the reasons a women resorts to such an act? After some analysis on the subject I came up with some reasons a women chooses the never forgiving path of infidelity. Women are emotional creatures. If the main reasons for men who cheat are physical the reasons for women who indulge in such act are mostly emotional. Some of the reasons are loneliness, revenge, boredom and self esteem.There are women who get involved in extramarital relationships purely for sex.
Majority of Women who cheat on their partners are those who are involved in unsatisfactory or sexless relationships. When she sees that her partner is unable to satisfy her on bed or fulfill her whims and fancies she looks for someone who could do so. If a woman is not receiving the attention she feels she deserves in a relationship, she may be tempted to seek that attention elsewhere and become involved in an affair. Many Women get into relationship because she feels lonely.This is most likely to happen when the lady is a housewife and husband is working abroad or the husband is a workaholic or who is on tour for at least 15 days in a month. Instead of looking for a productive hobby to fill her time she compensates for neglect or lack of attention from her man with the attention of another man.
Knowing that your wife or partner is receiving attention from another man could be heart breaking. Being cheated on makes you feel like an idiot. Being blind and trusting the loved one who ultimately betrayed you.Being angry that I have let myself down and let myself be treated like a doormat instead of a human being. Cheating hands down is the ultimate crime. Cheating as a general statement for women to me is a form of revenge due to generations of mistreatment. For one thing, women’s sexuality has shifted, as have their choices over time. “The changing roles of women have evolved over a rich, historical, and political landscape.
Oppressive eras, draconian double standards, artificial ideals, and unrealistically rigid moralities have taken their toll. Women today are saying, “Enough! In the sexually repressive 19th century, the vibrator was developed for male doctors to induce orgasm in female patients. I wonder who benefited the most–the physician or his patient? ” (Francis, 2007, p. 58). To sum up I believe it is a lot better for ones relationship and health to not cheat. We should all focus more on communication and understanding ones financial, sexual, time and trust needs before we decide to commit the crime of infidelity.
Whatever the reasons for cheating are I don’t think any religion supports such an act. Moreover, it is not worth losing your family or health because of such an act. WC: 585
