Tourism Analysis: Significance and Its DrawbacksTourism is one of the well-known leisure activities around the world, as numerous people go on journey; travel through the world’s famous spots and sojourn over the magnificence of a particular place. A variety of critics and scholars defines such activity as the freedom from cessation of any activities in terms of work or duties, and the act of going to the places not common to a certain individual. In other words, this sort of activity is done with recreational or leisure purposes, according to Williams (2004).Many countries from different parts of the world participate in the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to represent their national or local ecotourism. This organization contributes to the growth and prosperity of every country and achieves an economic stability through expanding the ways for both local and international tourist destinations and businesses. Therefore, tourism widens the possibility of reducing poverty and promotes the growth and development of the country, which offers such kind of activity. The Potential Benefits of Tourism            Advantages in countries clinging to the methodological systems of tourism are just inevitable.

In spite of the fact that ‘tourism’ is known as nature tourism, recreational and educational travel, and/or is known in any ways that people refer to as tourism, yet it yields a wholesome and a more advanced results in terms of social, economic and environmental issues in developing countries. In addition, tourism is the only activity that proffers countries a good chance for advancement or progress for small businesses, investments, employments, and makes the nation’s best and unique places known to the overseas countries. In such a way, the number of possibility in terms of national progress and fame increases.            Tourism helps fostering a more advanced and systematic ways of maintaining the wildlife and its natural environment from any infringement or misappropriation of the natural resources (“Tourism and the Conservation of Desert Lions in Namibia,” 2008). For a better comprehension, it simply deals with the study and/or belief that tourism helps conserving the living things and especially mammals, birds, and fishes that are neither human nor domesticated in the forest and lowland.

Wildlife continues to grow, as tourism implements the rule ‘never to kill animal and destruct forest’ and policies in relation to prohibition of destruction of the environment within a particular area. As an analysis of this ideological method, an individual or local citizen living in the forest would not have attempted to yield more threats that endangered animal or plant species face nowadays.Wildlife and its typical place of residence and/or its unique environment in many developing countries become the world-renowned attractions for international tourism. As an observation, it is quite common for the number of opulent societies and places to come from the developing countries; hence, the environment for their wildlife and ecosystem becomes unusual and unique for the foreign people (tourists).

Moreover, an increasing number of these people who travel and sojourn in places outside their own and common environment takes leisure activities, as they flock to the popular mountains, beaches, luxurious spots etc. Foreign tourists come along the way with money to pay accommodations and services, which are offered by the local host who receives and entertains the guests (tourists). Therefore, the money that is paid by the tourists who avail the host’s services while enjoying the tourist spot is the money that is spent to provide the local residents of the spot with jobs.Owner of the spot not only gets more income and profitability but also helps the nearby residents to produce income from various jobs within the spot. Other organizations particularly those for profit ones also generate income, as they provide tour agencies, guide services, lodges and private reserves, transportation and food services and other services that help tourists experience ease and comfort throughout the journey and leisure activities within the particular tourist spot. The Potential Drawbacks of Tourism            It may seem, that such an activity is really a big help for people living below the line of poverty but have unique place and a spot of pride.

They could make an income through various tourists that come to their place; spending foreigners’ money for services offered by the residents of the tourist spot. However, the presence of disadvantages is just inevitable especially for this kind of activity in which local residents and the spot are much concerned.            One of these drawbacks concerns financing tourism efforts (“Hospitality or Lodging Taxes as a Source of Revenue for Tourism Economic Development Efforts,” n.d.). Numerous countries rely too much on an item of business outlay, which is chargeable against revenue for a specific period.

For a better comprehension, local host usually depends on tour expenses by foreigners, which is used as the procurement of revenue obtained from taxes and as a source of recurrent benefit that derived from capital or labor. Therefore, as analysis of this entire view, it becomes quite easy to determine that manipulating tourism is a methodological way of contributing to the growth and prosperity of a spot in order to increase the exchange (buying and selling) of commodities on a large-scale involving transportation from place to place. Such a system of taxation makes tourism disadvantageous—increasing the general sales tax and implementing high lodging tax in which sometimes, local tourists from faraway regions are unfortunately being unable to afford lodges and other services in the local spot.

Another disadvantage concerns environmental damage (“Environmental auditing: A tool for assessing the environmental performance of tourism firms,” 1995). For a better comprehension with regard to this view, tourists can cause damage to the forest, as they usually burn dried bunches of the tree while in tour to the mountains. In addition, they destruct sand dunes and pollution. Such pollution would increase if tourists continue adapting this practice. As a result, it may cause the increase of pollution that would destroy the tranquility and composure of the local residents and would them to inconvenience. Moreover, it may dissuade other tourists from availing of the services offered by the local hosts or else from entering the spot. Consequently, the number of visitors or tourists that brings the spot and the local residents to profitability would decrease.

Conclusion            By acknowledging the significance of safeguarding the tourism’s essential sources, it becomes quite easy to determine that such a popular leisure or activity is raising appreciation. Moreover, it brings the spot particularly the wildlife and its typical residence to a better conservation practices through an increasing number of tourists. Nevertheless, it is imperative to address that tourism should be properly manipulated to protect its sources against unfavorable environmental and cultural effects.

Given such manner, tourism could be useful and profitable to the quick development of both the environment and economic factors.            With regard to an overall picture, tourism, as the world’s popular leisure activity becomes the successful and profitable biological activity or function that continues naturally in a boatload of tourists. As an analysis of the contemporary issues concerning business firms, businesspersons rely too much on this industry knowing that it does not only demand for literacy and professional experts but also it produces more profits without outlaying large amount of money.
