William Golding s novel The Lord of the flies makes a figure of suggestions about Human Nature. The male child became either followings or they became leaders. The male childs are scared of the unknown and they would instead seek enjoyment than make any work.

The stronger and the older male childs became the leaders and the weaker and the younger male childs followed. The two chief challengers, Jack and Ralph, were leaders and had their different sentiments on how to last on the island. Both Ralph and Jack seek to out make the other to derive power over the other. Ralph s beliefs were like a democratic system, where everyone was equal and helped each other out. He believed in co-operation. The usage of the conch by Ralph was a manner to coerce the male childs to come together for a meeting when he wanted it. Jack s belief was that you need to be forceful and strong and gain authorization over the remainder. By have oning a mask Jack became more confident, and he hid behind it utilizing it like a shield the mask compelled them ( Golding, 1962:80 ) . Jack s power and authorization made others scared of him and he used this power over them to coerce them to obey him.
