The Evils of Money Essay
“Money makes the world go round! ” It is a common statement we’ve all heard in our lifetimes. “Benjamins” has become an integral part of our society, and with the things one can achieve with it, it’s no wonder why so much evil has fostered from it. Since the days of ancient Rome, money has had some negative effects on society.
It fosters greed in even the most kind-hearted individuals, causes them to destroy and obliterate anything that stands in the way of them and their valued prize, gives way to the ability of foul hearted human beings to control and gain power over others for insidious purpose, and leads to the common hardworking citizen to resort to crime and thievery. Money, even with all its blessings and holy purposes, is one of the world’s greatest evils. The first argument to how currency is evil is the hidden greed and selfishness it brings out in the sweetest of people.The little avarice embedded in us all that only the thought of getting a few coins into our hands can bring out. This desire for “cash” can poison the heart and mind of the common man and stem the tide of any pure and selfless thought that the individual would have. The ordinary man turned drug dealer, and some corporations, for example, whose only concern is largely the acquisition of “dough” neither hid the lust they possess for money nor care whether someone gets hurt in their mad quest for riches.
From this want for “moolah” comes the worst and greatest crime this world has ever seen; from the murder of thousands of innocents beings to the collapse of entire empires, corporate and otherwise. Money can lead others to destroy property and other material items like buildings, cars, doors, and gas pumps. But what it can really demolish is the relationships one has with others and the things around them. A few “grand” forces those who follow it to forsake their wife, children, friends, family, loved ones and people around them in pursuit of that next cent they can gain. The greedy business mogul often finds himself alone at the end.
Another facet of the evils a few bucks can bring forth is giving to those that have fallen under its incantation the ability of controlling and holding power over the wills of others. Many people this day and age can be bought off or look the other way when money has made its presence aware. Consequence and imprisonment seem like childish things to one who possess money in an excess amount. So many people can be influenced; so many things can be achieved by a simple little bill that’s painted green. The final reason that showcases how evil “dead presidents” are is the thing that encompasses all of these arguments I have put forth, Crime.
Crime is the thing that usually has to be done to achieve the ultimate prize of a wad of bills in ones’ pocket. The intentional crime that stems from this universal language can be seen every day in this world that we live in. Problems are always occurring in the world because of this substance that we hold value to. Things like a school district not having enough money to support all the classes they used to provide, so they have to cut a class that many students cherished and they go into an uproar and riot, causing destruction in their wake. An extreme example, but it can happen anywhere at any time as with the strike last year.Crime is just something a society has to live with if currency of any type is involved. In conclusion, through the reasons stated hear money is one of the greatest evils that exists in this world today.
It poisons the vulnerable and kind-hearted, can destroy everything physical and emotional in its path, gives the ability to contort and twist the will of individuals, and is the seed of much crime. If one were to try to picture the world without money he could not for it is attached to heart of our society; ripping it out would take everything we know with it.
