But to many of those don’t know what are the real meanings of nursery rhymes. Many are based on historical events that can be gruesome or horrific if people truly knew what they mean.

One of those nursery rhymes that is based on true events is Baa Baa Black Sheep. In the beginning of the nursery rhyme of Baa Baa Black Sheep, it seems to be someone asking if this other has any wool, as the other person replies that he has 3 full bags of wool. Then the person with the wool tells the other person that one bag is for “the King, one for the Dame, and the last one for the kid that lives down the lane.” The truth behind the meaning of Baa Baa Black Sheep is the historical event in England during the 16th century. The economy was huge on wool and anyone that had a farm, would raise sheep in order to produce wool. There are many connections that can be found between the rhyme and the event. The reference,’ One for the master, and one for the dame, and one for the little boy Who lives down the lane,’ is of that the price of wool. One-third would go to the King, two-third to the Dame or the church, and none would go to the kid. This nursery rhyme is a showing of how cruel it was to be a hard-worker compare to the upper class.
