The Avengers is a visually, exciting movie because of its epic special effects and cinematography. This movie amazed viewers with the modernization of classic comic book story lines and well-timed comic relief, making it the most successful comic book movie in recent history. The brains behind this miraculous accomplishment is writer/director Joss Whedon. He has been described as one of those people who, either you have never heard of him, or you love him.Christopher Orr, explained that The Avengers was Whedon’s first true bite at the apple of mass appeal, further explaining that he predicts the masses will stay bitten. Whedon surprised the world with The Avengers by creating a modernized storyline that brought the old-fashioned Captain America, the self-loving billionaire Iron Man, the noble Thor, and the Incredible Hulk together, forming a team of the Earth’s mightiest heroes.Whedon was able create an amazing battle in the business district of New York City, which forced the Avengers to unite in order defend the world from Loki’s plan to rule the human race with the mystical Tesseract.

The special effects and cinematography is like that of no other movie, during the final battle the Avengers were all kept busy dominating on the spacial creatures falling from the open portal in the sky. The movie has a great storyline with well-timed comic relief to make the movie much more enjoyable.The witty Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr. ) was very comical during the course of the movie. For example, while having a conversation during the movie with Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, about being able to control when the jolly green giant makes his appearances, Stark sarcastically asks, “You really have got a lid on it, haven’t you? What’s your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed? ” Being able to make relieve these intense moments with some witty comments from all of the avengers makes this a great movie.

The Avengers was a huge box office hit, racking up an eye-popping $200 million in the opening weekend alone, while Hulk smashing the previous record set last summer. A movie of this magnitude cost about $220 million to make, accumulating that much money in the first weekend, made this movie one of the most successful of all time. It has not had a chance to break any records in receiving movie awards yet, but without a doubt, The Avengers will rack up numerous awards in the coming year.
