Soul Searching: Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul
During the time when I felt like nothing, searching for my purpose in life, I have always read Jack Canfield’s book for guidance. I can say that this particular book, Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul has influenced my outlook in life much less that it also helped me change.
As a teenager, I have always wandered off in so many ways that I usually forget my purpose and more often than not consider my self alone and there were times that I even thought of giving up. But the several articles in the book, especially that of a teen that committed suicide and his parents establishing a foundation after him, The Yellow Ribbon Foundation, was really moving. The anguish that the parents felt was diverted into helping others not to end up in the same fate as their son. It made me think that there really is no point in considering that I can’t run to some people and ask for help. It made me feel that I’m not alone.
In my stage of life where I have always longed for independence from my parents, it is good that there is a book in particular that could serve as a line towards help and inspirational guidance. It may sound funny but my belief that this book helped me become who I am today is a statement that I share with others who have also read and were moved by the book.
