Safeguarding Policy Essay
Safeguarding policy and procedures It is my responsibility as a childminder to ensure the safety and welfare of all the children in my care. It is always unacceptable for a child to experience abuse of any kind and i recognise my responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children in my care at all times. I will always commit myself to a practice that protects them. The EYFS states that childminders must protect children from abuse and must not practice punishment which hurts or degrades children. I am committed to protecting all children in my care.
I will endeavour to safeguard children by attending training wherever possible to ensure that my knowledge, policies and procedures are up to date and in line with the current legislation. any concerns will be taken seriously and acted upon appropriately and i will pay attention to what children say and feel. I will provide parents/carers with the opportunity to voice any opinions or worries they may have. Parents can contact Ofsted at any time if they have concerns about me or the way i conduct my business. Ofsted’s contact details are at the bottom of this policy.
I will be vigorous and vigilant in protecting the children in my care from abuse, bullying and intimidation. I will do this through supervision and guidance on appropriate behaviour(see my behaviour management policy) I will always listen to children and respect what they say. I will help children to develop their ability to keep themselves safe, by involving them in setting behaviour goals for inside and outdoor play and seeking their input into all risk assessments. I will also seek input from parents into policies, procedures, risk assessments ect. s appropriate. I will ensure that all confidential infomation is stored and managed in accordance with national guidelines. If i have any reason to belive that a child in my care is at significant risk i will report the matter stright away to Chester Assess Team Social Services 01244 on 603400. I will follow the guidance in the publication “what to do if you think a child is being abused”. I will implement child protection procedures when responding to signs or suspicions of abuse incuding significant changes in behaviour and determination of general well being.
