Kudler Fine Foods Data Table Analysis Essay
Kathy Kudler established Kudler Fine Foods in 1998 and became a fast growing company. The company financial infrastructure are on Microsoft Access database solution for tracking inventory, items, customers, online orders, and suppliers. Kudler main product line are quality perishable and tracking of proper inventory must be done daily. The assessment of KFF that will evaluate current database tables structures to provide the point of view from an accounting standpoint and to provide feedback and requirements for improvements.
Pivot Tables and Entity Relationship diagram can provide new processes for Kudler’s to make improved business decision. With any database design infrastructure data tables will provide the accounting elements to evaluate the accounting viewpoint. For Kudler to have success, information provided by the analysis of the data tables will determine how much inventory should be available and to establish a restocking point for the end user.
Database design will look at certain aspects of the companies financial data that will be tracked by department, general ledger code, items, location, and transaction totals. Kudler’s objective is to maximize the presentation of financial data that can be visualized by the company and consumers. The use of data tables to store information if created properly can give the user information that can be useful to determine certain cost related to location, department, and inventory items. Inventory can be accounted by presenting the cost of the item, on hand quantity, and calculating average cost.
The hierarchy flow of information can be presented by creating Entity relationship diagram that will allow any end users to see the process of data flow and to understand the importance of a structured database. There are four widely used symbols that enable ERD to represent data flow includes a rectangles to represent entities process, diamonds to describe relationship or decision, ovals to describe attribute characteristics or alternate process, and arrow lines showing a flow from one entity to another in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Proposal Data Table improvements Creating Pivot Tables can be a powerful tool that promptly displaying summarized data from independent tables that allow the evaluated of large amount data from its data list or spreadsheet. Pivot Tables will allow Kudler the ability to analyze their inventory items levels and allow departments to monitor and facilitate the tracking of different items to sell. Data sorting will provide a procedure of placing the data in some order making it easy to search for exact data in a detailed manner.
Kudler implement change as a result of Pivot Table Kudler’s database is overloaded with operational data that details its daily transactions. Because the structure of the data tables holding unnecessary data makes it complicated to make a suitable decision on the success and efficiency of the business. One way Kudler can process and compile data from a centralized location to ensure the correct detail information is stored in the data table that will provide useful inventory information for the three locations.
Information that must be relevant so emphasis on the items that need to be ordered and a re-ordering point to ensure that high quality items are maintained consistently in inventory and are not out of stock. Pivot tables can provide this information if the database tables are structured where they will provide this useful information because it can give Kudler Fine Foods a quick summary of the total and average inventory units on hand. Presently Kudler’s decision-making has priority on essentially improving their database tables to allow easy retrieval of inventory data that will optimize Kudler’s inventory levels at each store location. Upgrading their database tables will provide minimal redundancy on accessing their inventory data. Management must be decisive to incorporate change, action must be taken and resources must not become redundant and unproductive. The managerial decisions should weight every aspect of the improvements needed and respond by supporting the recommendation.
