In the life of every day, there are many crimes related to gun violence and control particularly in the United States of America which has been proven to have the highest rate of gun in the world (Reuters 2016). According to wikipedia, gun control or fire regulation is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians. These laws goes against the Second Amendment which states that “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The topic of gun violence and gun control has been very controversial for a long time, half of the United States wants stricter gun laws whereas the other half believes that firearms regulation is useless to our society. Although, these firearms can be useful in certain situations, such as self-defence, they present a massive danger to the society. Therefore, the United States should reinforce and impose severe laws to primarily assure the safety of every individual due to the amount of mass shootings over the years, the increase in suicides, homicide rates, and gun trafficking. These include background checks and verifications, mental evaluations and permit for guns before one can purchase a gun in the United States of America. To start off, stricter gun laws should be established in the United States of America. In 2007, it was estimated that there were, globally, about 875 million small arms in the hands of civilians, law enforcement agencies, armed forces and gang members. An article posted by procon.org shares that there are 88.8 guns per 100 people in the United States alone, this is equivalent to about 270,000,000 guns. Compare to other countries, the United States has the highest rate of gun violence. Firearms are usually categorized into three types: handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Rifles and shotguns are both viewed as “long firearms”( Agresti et al 2017). As per the Washington Post, mass killings in the United States are regularly done with firearms, for the most part handguns. Throughout the years there has been significant mass shooting, for example, the deadliest mass shootings, starting August first 1966, when ex-Marine expert sharpshooter Charles Whitman executed his better half and mother, at that point climbed a 27-story tower at the University of Texas and slaughtered 14 more individuals previously police shot him to death ( Berkowitz, Gamio, Lu, Uhrmacher, and Lindeman 2017 ). Few years passed, on December 14, 2012, there was a similar mass shooting. Adam Lanza, a 20-year-old mentally ill man killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, and then drove his mother’s car to the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where he shot and killed 26 people which including 20 first-graders, in less than 11 minutes, before taking his own life (cbsnews). In 2016 there was the Orlando nightclub shooting with 50 people dead including the shooter and in 2017 there was the Las Vegas shooting with 59 deaths including the killer.
