How long have you known this student and in what context? What are the first words that come to your mind to describe this student? To Whom It May Concern, It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Rei Ballabani to support his application to your undergraduate program. My first encounter with Rei was through the Math entrance exam for our school. I was truly impressed, not by the fact that he scored the maximum available points, but rather the unique way he had approached most problems, that demonstrated an exceptionally strong grasp of mathematical concepts, reasoning ability, and intuition not often found among middle school students. Throughout the three years that I have taught Rei, he has always stood out with his top notch academic performance among a very strong and talented group of students. Rei has a brilliant mind; he is very passionate, extremely motivated and hard-working. He is able to quickly develop a deep understanding of new, difficult concepts that he is faced with in Advanced Math class, and possesses a razor sharp aptitude. He is active in discussions and never reluctant to voice his opinion and ideas, ask questions, and challenge his peers, while being humble and respectful. Rei is a student who strives to expand his knowledge beyond the curriculum.
Since his first year at our school, he joined the Math Club – where he has displayed unmatched enthusiasm and competitive nature. He has represented our school in several Math Olympiads and competitions, for which he has prepared diligently and performed very well. In all three years he has been among the top ten students in Tirana, out of approximately 1500, selected to advance into the national rounds. It is not unusual to find Rei tutoring his peers and helping them when they face difficulties. He does it with a smile on his face, and is thorough, precise and eloquent.
