Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!I stopped doing my homework and thought what a wonderful thing it would be if there were no more Berlin wall People, who had not seen their family for years becoming reunited.It was an exciting time. After years of the cold war, worrying about Russia hitting us with a nuclear bomb the two most powerful countries in the world was looking at each other as possible friends.

Exactly one month before my oldest daughters 1st birthday, I cried with joy watching people pull brick by brick from that wall and seeing family who had not seen each other for nearly 30 years reunited it was heart wrenching joy.In this country we are so lucky I also remember the seeing the consequences of those who were caught trying to climb over that forsaken wall. Let us just say they never saw joy.3.* The wall had originally been erected by East Germany to prevent its citizens from defecting to the West.
