Another strength of thispolicy is that nationwide campaigning are arranged which helped people withdementia and their families. This campaigning’s helped them because they havebeen informed and have been given them the knowledge and understanding ofdementia. Theyhave informed the careers what are the needs of a dementia patients and howthey should be treated and handled.

As well as lot is done by to identify thesign early this is done by asking hospital and care homes to be part ofdementia friendly. Also the training resources has been increased for the staffon dementia awareness. As well as millions have been invested in research forscientists to find treatments to help with dementia as even know still less isknown about dementia Lastlythe most and powerful strength of this policy is that the funding to helppeople with dementia has been increased. This is a very important point in thepolicy as is gives the patient the power to be treated and have the chance toreceive treatment. Many dementia individuals have to pay their treatment andfees if they don’t have a pension that pays the treatment for them. Therefore,the dementia patients that will not be able to afford the cost they will not betreated which is meaning that they will not be giving the chance to be treatedas everyone else so this strength of the policy has given the individuals abetter chance of being treated and giving them the same rights as everyoneelse.

However,in this policy there are also weaknesses. One of the weakness is that doctors stilldiagnosis dementia incorrectly because they may be mistaken the symptoms. Ifthe doctors will be giving the patient the wrong diagnoses, then that means isnot fair to the patient and the patient will not be treated corresponded theway it should be treated as he the individuals may get the wrong informationand advice which then may occur problems such as the professional and patientwill not be having a steady relationship and they may not disclose theirproblem to the professional. This leads to the second weakness of this policy.the other weaknesses of this policy is that professional are focusing on peopleover 65 this means that means if a younger person will be having dementia thenthe doctors will be mistake the symptoms for depression or anxiety whichsuggest that the they are not treated the same in contrast they are treateddifferently than the ageism people. Another weaknesses is that even in today’stime abuse still happens in health and social care settings this means thatpeople with dementia do not receive person-centered care, are deprived of theirlegal rights and receive inappropriate treatments, such as physical restraint.

 Inthis assignment I have started with an introduction to describe why people withdementia are discriminated due to dementia. I also said how to improve care forpeople with dementia. As well as I have summarized the main point of the primeminister challenge on dementia policy 2020. Furth more I assessed the primeministers challenge on dementia 2020 which aims to improve acre for people withdementia. I assessed this by a scale 1 to 5 meaning that 1 is not effective atall and 5 is very effective in promoting anti discriminatory practice.

Lastly Ihave evaluated the success of the policy by stating what are the strength andwhat are the weaknesses in promoting anti discriminatory practice.
