CAMTASIA VIDEOSVIDEO #11.       RECORD THE SCREENa.    HOW TO RECORD THE SCREENb.   SMART FOCUSa. Camtasia software is one of the most used screen, editing and rendering software in the market today, and has been that for some time now…at least in my experience….

and screen recording is Camtasia’s main… one of the easiest features to use.First you open the Camtasia…click on either new project or new recording…I personally like to click on a new project, and then on new recording…and a new window will pop up. Recording window. The next thing you have to do is to make settings for the recording you want to doRecorded areas: Here you have options. You may either record entire screen or a section of the screen. And you have to do this before the recording. This cannot be changed once the recording starts.

Recorded input: Now…here you may use either your computer camera and microphone or you don’t have to use them at all…if you do not want to record urself or your voice. However, for the audio…you may use your computer internal audio system, or you may use an external microphone, which once plugged into your computer will be picked up by Camtasia and listed under the audio drop down menu. Click on your choice of microphone…and then you may start recording. There are three options in your recording toolbar. The first one is delete (once you click it, it automatically deleted the file), pause…you may pause the video, and continue recording later…or you may just click stop and Camtasia will automatically stop recording and automatically import your recording into the Camtasia editor.

LET ME SHOW YOU IN AN EXAMPLEb. now the smart focus. i am using Camtasia 9.1, which is the latest version.

The reason I am stating this is because Camtasia 8 has a bit different way of accessing the Smart focus.Basically, the smart focus is to help you automatically add zoom and pan to your screen recording…that is Camtasia will automatically, FOLLOWING YOUR MOUSE MOVEMENT, add zoom and pan animations as you are recording your screen. The important thing here is to move your mouse slowly, as Camtasia may not follow fast mouse movement in smart focus. However, if you do not want to use smart focus, that is fine, because Camtasia has a zoom and pan animations option so that you may add zoom and pan manually to your recordings once you are done. So…smart focus is an option whether you want to add zoom and pan automatically (during the recordings) or manually (after you are done recording). I personally almost never use smart focus, as I like to add zoom and pan in my post production.LET ME SHOW YOU IN AN EXAMPLE VIDEO #22.       PROJECT CREATIONa.

LIBRARY To create a new project, open the Camtasia, click on the files, new project. Save. You may create a new folder, or let Camtasia choose a folder for you.

I generally create my own folder. The project is saved as a .camproj file. Once you save the project, you can always go back to it and edit it, even after you produce it and share it…it will be saved in the folder. You can also use zipped projects in Camtasia both (imported and exported).

One thing that Camtasia has made very convenient is to wirelessly move your media files from your mobile device to your Camtasia on your computer using the QR code. The do this file transfer the computer and mobile device must be on the same wifi network. All your files for editing are put into the media bin. That is, all the files you want to edit in Camtasia editor, are all put into the media bin, this includes videos, images and audio files. To edit it, just drag and drop it on to the editing track.

To improve your projects, Techsmith has added a library of icons, motion graphics, and music tracks which are free to use for your projects. Beautiful thing about the motion graphics is that you can tailor it to fit your likings including shape, wording and colors. Once you are done with your project, you may drag and drop a suitable music track for your project…and then share it.
