When practitioner deals with difficult behaviour they must follow the behaviour policy by dealing with conflict in fair and consistent way. Attendance policy: It is important to bring and collect the child on time, coming to the setting with a responsible adult, parents should inform the nursery if a child will be collected by different adult and parents should avoid collecting the child from nursery in the middle of the session. When children behave in inappropriate way like, if a child smacks or hurt another child or adult, staff will explain what they have done wrong and possible remove from the situation, encourage children to say sorry, children will never be sent out of the room or left unattended in any situation.
Children will be constantly reassured that they are always valued as individuals even if their behaviour may be unacceptable staff should give support to solve problems. The nursery behaviour policy aims to help children grow in the safe and secure environment, and to became positive, responsible. Children find it much easier to show positive behaviour if they know what is expected of them and all staff should be consistence because they can be confuse about boundaries and rules. Making children participate for the rules and explain what is the consequences if they do not follow them. Being consistent with children and young people will develops confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement between children and care worker.
Example 1: You can have rules to keep the class safe in general, like after play time the children should do tidy up because someone may trips and falls and staff must help, they can learn as work team and you can prise saying ‘well done’ helps them know that they have showing positive behaviour. Example 2: Children can play in the garden, but they must not tread on the flowerbeds. As practitioner we can explain they have a lot of toys to play, they can run safely and they will understand the boundaries to play in the garden.
