Application for Instar Program Essay

There are a few certainties of what one will encounter during life. A common joke names two: death and taxes.

I will be so bold as to add another, disease. Of the three, the one certainty human beings have the most “control” over is disease. Death is inevitable and as long as governments exist, taxes are as well. Disease is also inevitable; however there are methods to combat the recurrences, spread and danger of this malady. My dream is to research and develop a permanent cure for humans who have been diagnosed with Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT).Is there a way to find a permanent treatment for DVT through neuroscience? lone, between 350,000 and 600,000 people are diagnosed with DVT, and 25,000 deaths from Pulmory Embolism (PE) as per National Center for Health Statistics. The medication Warfarin would thin the blood and is known as an anticoagulant. My search led me to volunteer at a company called Invagen Pharmaceuticals at the advice of my father.

During the time I was there, I was able to observe the research and development of Warfarin. Once I had entered the lab, I didn’t want to leave. My thirst for knowledge is only seconded by my desire to rise above the limitations and accomplish of what others say cannot be done.My curiosity led to an idea in which neuroscience could stop the flow of blood clot and break it apart.

This idea could impact the world in the next twenty years. I will not let anything interfere with the attainment of this goal. I know my research has breaches, but I will not stop until I find a permanent cure for this horrendous disease. I have the compassion, the desire, and the love to go far beyond the reaches of mankind to find a cure. After all, today’s limitations will be tomorrow’s conquests.
