Abolishing slaveryand eradicating human trafficking are important goals for many countries. Butthis is not possible due to lack of data on exploitation and the methodologiescurrently used to gather data. For example, there is use of awarenesscampaigns as preventive work on human trafficking , but little evaluation hasbeen done to ascertain the effectiveness of such campaigns – and to codify goodpractices for use elsewhere (clert et al).In 2005 Clert etal., have developed a framework for human trafficking. It tells a dynamic modelof pre-movement, movement, exploitation, and post-exploitation, and identificationof the key issues and policy responses at each stage.      There are existing projects and programs that directlytackle issues relating to nonconsensual exploitation. We need to broaden thescale and scope of these projects and programs.2.

     Major improvement is required for data-gatheringmethodologies, conducting critical research, and launching impact evaluationswith the objective of identifying best practices. 3.     Partnerships of government with NGOs, otherinternational organizations, other civil society organizations.The scale and scopeof this work can be expanded.

But first we need to help develop a set of goodpractices in each area by first launching pilot projects. Something closelyrelated to this, are social development projects to empower vulnerable groupswho are at risk of exploitation, particularly women and children. In thisregard, NGOs and other civil society organizations might have to bestrengthened to increase their effectiveness as monitors in the fight againstexploitation. Also, migrants should be informed about their rights byconducting pre-departure orientation seminars. There should be tighterrecruitment regulations which could help to fight transnational trafficking. Inthe end, lack of good governance and access to justice lead to business ofexploitation.

Thus, strong implementation of law is needed.
