A story of survival continues to inspire.”
A problem has become known and to many, and people feel that it’s about time that the general public has taken notice. This problem has been socially unrecognized for centuries it has chosen to let itself be known, the problem that people have been talking about is domestic violence, it has ruined families, and demoralized victims for years and now no matter how many people say it’s not right people still do it. By researching domestic abuse in women, one can see that it is a huge problem which is important because many women who were beaten and left to die. And some people believe that it only happens to certain people.
Some believe that domestic violence only happens to certain people. But according to The National Domestic Violence Hotline “Domestic violence does not discriminate anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion or gender can be a victim or perpetrator of domestic violence. It can happen to people who are married, living together or who are dating. It affects people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and education levels.” This statement proves that domestic violence can happen to anybody.
It also implies that it can happen to men as well. There are many disturbing stories about women being beaten and left to die. According to Chicago’s WGN 9 “Nine years ago, a Wisconsin woman was fighting for her life, stuffed inside a garbage can, and dumped in an unheated storage locker in Chicago’s northwest suburban Wheeling.
Teri Jendusa Nicolai was bleeding, freezing, and left to die. But almost a decade later, her story of survival continues to inspire.” This is just one story of a women being beaten and left to die. And unfortunately some of the women don’t live through it. This is important because waqy too many women are being taken advantage of and been beaten to the point where they are close to dying. And this needs to stop.
Domestic violence can happen to anyone, it doesn’t matter the race, religion, social region of the victim. If the issue of domestic violence is not dealt with, then this type of abuse will continue among the society with no sight of ending. Domestic violence against women must be grasped as a socioeconomic problem alternatively than a private issue impacted in a family a domestic issue could be easily ignored. It must receive appropriate attention from the multiple institutions in our society as an issue affecting the overall quality of living.
It is not only a women’s issue, but also a problem that threatens the goodwill in our communities.
